My feet hurt so bad I could....well, not walk anymore if I had to. Really. We walked AT LEAST 30 miles today. I have blisters and my ankles are swollen and my knee hurts. But hey, where did I go today? Oh, yeah....London :)
We left at 8:30 with the group to walk to the train station. The 45 min walk was definitely a way to wake us up. The first thing we did as a group was go to The Museum of London. It was HUGE! There was no way we could see all of it in a day. We got a lot done in two hours worth of running quickly through the rooms to see whatever section we would like to see. The Egypt section was....lame. Sorry Britts but I'm sorry to say the Egyptians beat you on that, as they should. I did like the section of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. We also got to see the Rosetta Stone, which is the stone that was found (and fought over) because it helped to distinguish hieroglyphics into modern language. All in all the museum was too short of a trip. I wish I had my mom here to tell me what everything was and actually read something and explain it to me. I also wish my father was here to find the weird things in the museum that are in the corners and point them out to me. I'll have to come back someday to it.
I found this though that the men might enjoy....a chair made of guns!
I also found a trace of my home place. I don't know what this was for but.....
So then we walked to Westminster Abbey!! I was stoked about this one. I can't believe we stood were kings are crowned king and buried. We saw countless tombs and beautiful architecture. We weren't allowed to take pictures but i got three in before I knew that. (don't worry I just got a head shake and not thrown in jail)
Big Ben was right next to the Abbey so we took pictures there. And while we were taking pictures as the crowd bustled around us, we heard, "Hey ACU kids!" Sure enough there was a guy from ACU standing there with his family. He actually had been studing abroad this past semester and stayed extra. Small world. Here we are actually caught in the action of seeing him. This pic was taken when he was yelling at us and we realized who it was.
Then we split up and went LOTS of places. Walked and took the Subway everywhere. The Palace was one of our stops. I was very upset that the (red) guards aren't there all day. But I did catch one of the gaurds chewing gum...I think I'll have to talk to the Queen about this.
There is too much to describe today. We went everywhere. We tried to make it back to town before 10:30 when the pizza joint closed....well we make our 45 min walk in about 18 min. We were bookin it! Long story short....we walked miles and miles....got the pizza and I'm tired. Tomorrow we are going back but taking a bus tour that will let us off at all the biggest stuff. I'll leave you with a few pictures from the day.

ReplyDeleteMuseum of London sounds great, and I would have loved to have been there driving you crazy.....giving you all the details. :) We will go back! Rosetta Stone....one of my fantasies, although I had rather've seen it in Cairo where it belongs. ;) The Bronze Statues...how clever. Might be a good job for me after retirement. Hehe. Rest those feet and get ready for more!
